Well The Waylons’ much deserved week-long furlough is over. It’s back to the rock-stone. This week’s excitement is mastering 3 new songs at Salt Mastering in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. On deck this week are We Are Afraid of the Wrong Things, Safe, and Everyone Talking.
Also, some of the waylons went to Storm King. It’s like nature only better.
The Waylons are not looking for a drummer. Between violent outbursts and bake sale benders, Waylons’ Sandy is doing fine. But a friend, Dan Maxwell (of Dan Maxwell and the Turnpike Sailors) needs someone to sit in for a couple shows. get in touch with him here. http://danmaxwellandtheturnpikesailors.tumblr.com/
This morning at 22nd and Lexington there were hundreds of teens and preteens crowded around a building. Actually they were crowded under scaffolding that presumably is attached to a building. there were hundreds of them. At first I saw them from a distance, and thought they might be a crowd of adult aged people crowding, but for what? I thought a jumper, perhaps, when I still thought they were a general-interest-mean-age-35-crowd. But no. They were all kids (suggesting they had all planned in advance to be at that corner, and it’s not like a jumper would call them all), and no one was looking up. Of course the most obvious was that it was A) a release party of a new Waylons record or B) a school. But there aren’t any new Waylons records right now (I don’t think), and it just didn’t FEEL like a school scene. Anyone have any ideas?
The Waylons thank you for coming out to Union Pool and invite you to like them now on facebook. And if you haven’t gotten the free downloads, get on that! If you took pictures send them in! Stay tuned for release of new music!
